Tournament Rules

• Each team will consist of 3 members, players handicaps must be within 15 from Highest to Lowest. Each team will get 15 percent on the team’s total handicap. Handicap index will be at a 12-month low from June 1st, 2023, to June 1st, 2024. Max handicap for players will be 36 for men and 40 for women.
• The tournament will consist of (5) 9- hole matches. The top two teams will be taken from each flight, as well as 4 wild-card teams from Sunday for the Derby. All men’s flights must play a 6500-yard course, ladies flights will play a 5400-yard course.
• Wild cards will be determined by the highest scored points on Sunday. If there are any ties on the wildcard a playoff closest to the pin will be played on the par 3 course hole 1. The captain will choose one player to hit closest for the team. If any ties from distances, repeat closest to the pin on hole 1. Must continue to play in the same player order throughout.
• Before each match is played, your team captain will decide who will drive first on each hole of the match and mark it on score card prior start of match. One drive will be hit only by the chosen player. Following the drive on each hole, scramble format will take place until completion of each hole. If hit out of bounds on the drive, scramble will begin on the tee box with penalty strokes added. ALL PLAYERS MUST HIT 3 DRIVES PER MATCH! ONCE PLAYER ORDER HAS BEEN DETERMINED FOR THE MATCH, IT CAN NOT BE CHANGED AFTER THE MATCH HAS BEGUN.
• Once scrambling begins after the drive, one club length is allowed and cannot improve the lie. Once on the green, 6 inches is allowed from the spot no closer to the hole. Once putted in the lowest score wins the hole. Teams must keep track of their score and points. At the end of the match, both score cards by each team captain must be signed and verified. Scorecards with only one signature will not be accepted.
• Each hole during the match is worth 1 point. If teams tie a hole, ½ a point is awarded to each team. If a team wins a hole, 1 point is awarded. At the end of the match, the winning team will get an extra point. If a tie, an extra ½ point will be awarded to each team. The point total for the match will be 10 points.
• If there are any ties in the flight, winners will be determined by their head-to-head score. If that was a tie, the winner will be determined by their scores against the 3rd place team. If the tie is continued, we will move on to the 4th place team and so on if the tie continues.
• In the case of a team not being present, their opponents will receive 6 points for the match. In a scenario of one team member not being present, the team may continue the matches with 2 team members. In the case of a withdrawal of a team that has already played 1 or more matches, the opponents that played them will receive 6 points or their actual points gained, whichever is more.
• Once the Derby begins, 9 holes will be played. Team captains will determine the order of the alternative shot. The order will be played throughout the derby; it does not reset at the start of each hole. Each hole will lose a number of teams determined by the Derby coordinator. In the case of a tie during the derby, a chip off will be played. The chip off will be closest to the pin, and placement will be determined by the derby coordinator. The participants hitting the chip must be consistent with the alternate shot format. All participants in the chip off must turn their backs to each shot and cannot walk on the green/ fringe at any time to check the other participants shot. The ball must stay on the green to be a qualified chip.
• In a scenario where weather or other events shortens a match/matches, only completed matches will count.
• Refunds for prepaid tournament fees will not be granted any later than 4 weeks before the tournament for any reason. You can find a team to replace your spot after the 4 weeks, however the replacement team will be responsible for reimbursing you, no refund will come from JCHF.
